Whilst I was reading through the tweets from Equal Marriage Scotland I noticed the following item:

Now, it was certainly news to me that people outside of Scotland are entitled to submit responses to the Scottish Government’s consultation on same-sex ‘marriage’. Somewhat, puzzled I contacted the Scottish Catholic Parliamentary Office who knew nothing of this. In fact, they had been assured at the start of this process that it was a “Scottish consultation”. When someone contacted the office responsible for the consultation earlier today they were told that “replies outside Scotland will be distinguished from those within” i.e. they will play some part in the process.
This is somewhat surprising news to hear with just over a week before the deadline for the consultation process! Because Marriage Equality Scotland has been urging supporters for a while now to submit responses even if they don’t live in Scotland and because the Scottish Government is now saying that these responses will actually count in the Government’s ‘decision process’ I cannot shake off the sense that there is – frankly speaking – a stitch-up going on here. Since homosexual persons actually only represent around 1.5% of the Scottish population it is hardly surprising that it has been seen fit to call in the assistance of interested persons who don’t even live in Scotland in order to give the appearance of popular demand for same-sex ‘marriage’ in our country.
Why, it seems even Stephen Fry, who I believe lives in London, has been invited to help decide whether marriage in Scotland should be redefined to include homosexual unions:
Therefore, if you are reading this outside of Scotland then I would appeal to you to please submit a response to the Scottish Government and help us defend marriage in our little country.
You can either use the Government’s on-line Consultation Response Form. The fuller the response the better, however, it is quite a long-winded set of questions and No 18 is actually quite ambiguous.
Alternatively, the Christian Institute has set up a website to simplify the process of submitting a response to the Scottish Government. Their simplified on-line response form can be found here.
Thank you and may God bless you!

I’m appalled that UNISON the union I am in, backs so-called ‘equal marriage’.I only recently discovered this web page urging members to respond in favour of redefining marriage:
http://www.unison-scotland.org.uk/lgbt/equalmarriage.html
Their backing for abortion ‘rights’ and their campaign against the Catholic Church remaining independent from equality legislation( regarding same homosexual adoptions) , makes it impossible for me to remain a member .As a matter of conscience , I will have to withdraw my membership.I will write to my local UNISON officer for clarification.I would be interested to hear what other catholics and people of good will have to say about UNISON and it’s policies .
This is a revelation to me, clearly if this is indeed happening then the whole consultation is a sham, and should be investigated.

You can opt out of paying into Unisons political funds. They have two: Unison Labour Link (formerly the Affiliated Political Fund) and the General Political Fund.
According to the website of the organisation Abortion Rights the General Political Fund provides them with support.
You can download a form from the Unison website exempting you from paying into the political funds. I think it would best to specify which (or both) of the funds you dio not wish to contribute to. You still remain a full member of the union.
I opted out of paying into both of the political funds. It took a bit of time and I had to phone to remind the branch to confirm in writing that they had received my form (this is a union rule) .
Thanks Sandy for the info.Looking back , when I joined I refused the Labour funding part – I will now withdraw my support from the General Political fund.Giving my reasons in writing might make them think twice about assuming to speak for all members and that many oppose such views .
